Thom Cardwell, Executive Director, Philadelphia Film
Society, produces the Philadelphia Film Festival and the Philadelphia
International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. He advises and speaks at
the Memphis International Film Festival, the New Hampshire Film Expo and the Utah Arts Festival. He has
been a panelist at the London Film Festival, a juror at the Austin Film
Festival and a delegate at numerous festivals, including Montreal, Palm
Springs, Miami, Washington, D. C. and Sundance. He spoke at the first-ever
International Film Festival Summit in New York City in 2004. He began
organizing film festivals as a college student at University of New England.
He pursued film study at The New School, Villanova and Fordham universities.
A working journalist for 25 years, he writes for many media outlets, including
NotesFromHollywood.com. He received an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts
from the University of the Arts in 2005. Thom is originally from Manchester,
